Weistannen, Switzerland June 1990

These are pictures I took of Weistannen where my family came from as far back as 1680.

This is looking down the valley the way we came from. Mels is down there.
The graveyard is in the middle of the town.

I believe I am right in saying the Swiss only let graves stand
for 100 years then the space is recycled.

None of the people living in Weistannen can be buried here.*

Weistannen Motel around 1900.

This is (was) the only Motel in town. I hear it is fairly expensive (60fr.)
but I don't know that for sure.

This is looking up the valley from the edge of town. Notice the houses up on the hill.
I would imagine going to town is a all day trip.

This is about 5 miles up the valley. Pretty waterfalls are everywhere.

Our very kind tour guide Adelheid Tschirky and her mother Regina Schnider Tschirky.
We stayed with Adelheid's brother Julias Tschirky and his wife Beatrice in Rafz, Switzerland.
Julias is a A very distant cousin. They were kind enough to put us up and take us up to Weistannen.

From Left to right, Beatrice, Adrian, Julius, Bregor, Franzeska, Fred Swan, and me.
